Sandra E. Serkes

Sandra (“Sandy”) Serkes is a dynamic leader with an extensive background spanning over 20 years in entrepreneurship, software marketing, product management and corporate strategy, particularly in information governance, predictive analytics, document data mining and processing, computer telephony and speech recognition. One of Valora Technologies’ original founders, Ms. Serkes has been actively involved in the Company since its inception in 2000. Today, Ms. Serkes oversees Sales & Marketing, Finance & Administration, Operations, New Product Development and Corporate Strategy.
A graduate of Harvard Business School and MIT, Ms. Serkes is a frequent industry speaker and panelist. Ms. Serkes also contributes articles, podcasts and white papers for industry-focused organizations annually. She is an active participant in the Women Presidents’ Organization, The Commonwealth Institute, the MIT Enterprise Forum, the Massachusetts Software Council and the Network of Harvard Alumnae. Ms. Serkes serves on the boards of several technology and analytics start-ups and was named a 2006 “Woman to Watch” by Womens’ Business magazine. Ms Serkes has presented at InfoGovCon, the American Records Management Association (ARMA International), International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), and Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) national conferences and has served on the national Board of Directors of the Association of Litigation Support Professionals (ALSP).
In her sixteen years as President and CEO, Valora Technologies has grown over 1200%, remained profitable since 2003, and received numerous awards and accolades, most recently being named to Inc. Magazine’s annual list of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in America. In her spare time, she coaches soccer and serves on the executive board of a 501(c)(3) non-profit childcare organization.
Ms. Serkes was profiled in Law Technology News as February 2014’s STEM Cells feature, written by former LTN Editor-in-Chief Monica Bay. That profile, along with other Women in Legal Technology became a key message for the NYC LegalTech `14 show.
In 2015, Ms. Serkes spoke at the ICAIL DESI VI Workshop to present her highly acclaimed White Paper: “The Larger Picture: Moving Beyond Predictive Coding for Document Productions to Predictive Analytics for Information Governance.” This White Paper ultimately became the basis for a chapter in the new ABA Book, “PERSPECTIVES ON PREDICTIVE CODING And Other Advanced Search Methods for the Legal Practitioner” co-authored with Jason Baron, Ralph Losey and other industry luminaries. Later that year, Ms. Serkes was recognized at InfoGovCon 2015 as the Information Governance Technology Evangelist of the Year.
Since the fall of 2015, Ms. Serkes has served as Adjunct Professor to the Columbia University School of Professional Studies, Knowledge Management Program, where she lectures on “Solving Information Governance & Knowledge Management Problems with Pattern-Recognition Technologies & Predictive Analytics.” Many of Ms. Serkes’ interviews, presentations and lectures are available for public viewing and download on Valora’s website and YouTube™ channel.
